If you have questions about any of this, feel free to email and ask (at@aurhohm.com). I’ve kept it short. These things are better explained over video or in-person.
Next Steps, if you’d like to see if we should work together:
1) Provide information through intake forms or email on the ‘Contact’ page. If you only want to provide the minimum you feel is necessary before we meet, that’s fine. We can always expand on things more if/when we meet. If that’s the case you would send an email instead of filling out an intake form.
2) The first visit will be a thorough evaluation at a reduced rate so that we have enough time to get to know what’s going on and whether we should work together. If we don’t end up working together, my goal is to still aid in assessing what your next steps should be. Mental healthcare is tricky to navigate, I’d like to help either way.
3) I work in 75 to 150-minute blocks of time, with pre-specified start and end dates for our engagements. Usually, our meetings will occur over 4-12 weeks. If we need more time, we can talk about setting another block with a different set of start and end dates. There is a psychology and neurobiology to expectations that bears out here.
4) Feel free to ask about whatever it is you’re grappling with but what I’m mostly focusing on is:
Evaluations, including first-time, second opinions, complex diagnoses
Because misdiagnosis, mistreatment, and ‘bad’ therapy is the rule in mental healthcare, not the exception. I care about doing what I can to make sure someone hasn’t/doesn’t steer you incorrectly.
Couples therapy (in-person)
An especially sensitive arena with a lot of people doing couples therapy who bring their own unresolved issues to other people’s relationships.
I care about not doing that. Assuming the best potential character of each other and working towards mutual acceptance and understanding above all here.
Major life decisions and crossroads
Interpersonal, relational issues
PTSD
Thoughts of suicide
Evaluations for ECT, TMS, & more
Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (oral, nasal, intramuscular - in-person)
Evaluation and facilitation of interventional therapies
Preparation, integration
Even if you’re not doing any of this with me, I’m cool with helping to assess the other places/people you’re thinking of working with
